Dave Maravilla founded Bosco Institute in summer of 2013. It was a bold move by someone who has always lived on the cutting edge of the sports management industry. Maravilla is no stranger to new ventures that are considered “out of the box”. In the summer of 1990 he founded International Sport Management. One of the first American agencies that specialized in representing American professional basketball players internationally. The agency flourished and over the next 23 years secured well over five-hundred professional basketball contracts throughout the world. A collaboration with legendary NBA agent Frank Catapano led to representation of many NBA players as well.
It was during this time period that Dave had built a strong network of relationships with college players, many who have now gone on to become college coaches as well as college assistant coaches who would later go on to become college head coaches. Those relationships and the strong ties to many European basketball clubs, coaches and players have created a vast network globally that has been the anchor of Bosco Institute success in providing their student athletes a competitive advantage in securing scholarships across the country.
The Alumni of the Indiana University Sports Management program worked as a marketing representative for the Chicago White Sox as well as Baker Indy car Racing prior to entering the agent business.
In 2013 Dave sold International Sport Management to a European Sports conglomerate and left the agent business for good . With his sights set on creating the first Post Graduate Academy in theMidwest the Bosco Institute was born in July 2013. Since that time ninety-six Bosco student-athletes have gone on to play college basketball on scholarship during the first Nine years of the program’s existence including forty-five at the D1 level. Eight former Bosco Alumni are currently playing professional basketball including 2019 NBA First Round Draft Pick Mfioundu Kabengele who is now a member of the Boston Celtics.
In June 2021 Maravilla made another out of the box move by adding a high school program to a hugely successful post grad program. The first graduating class had Six Seniors that went on to play college basketball at the D1, D2 and NAIA level.
The commitment to excellence both in the classroom and on the court has been evident as many of our alumni have gone on to play at some of the most prestigious academic institutions in America. As we are now in our Tenth year of existence, the Bosco Institute is excelling in providing the platform and development as well as being an advocate for its student athletes.
